Having a bird fly into your car windscreen can cause a chip, a crack or shatter your windscreen completely, which can be unsettling and in some cases fatal – usually only to the bird unless you’re piloting a plane. So, the question is why does it happen so often? Why can’t birds just keep out of the way of fast moving vehicles? The problem is particularly acute for pilots, where even a minor bird strike can break the windscreen, clog the engines and cause a major accident, so airports are as creative as they can be to keep those feathered creatures at bay.
